To grant legally married male employees paternity leaves during which they are entitled to receive full pay for seven (7) days to attend to the needs of their legal spouse during childbirth.
This policy is applicable to all probationary and regular legally married male employees.
Paternity Leave: This refers to the benefits granted to a male employee who is lawfully married. He is allowed to take a leave for 7 days, with full pay, for the first 4 deliveries of his legitimate spouse whom he is cohabiting.
Paternity Leave
A lawfully married male employee shall be granted a leave for seven (7) days, with full pay, for the first 4 deliveries of his legitimate spouse with whom he is cohabiting. A paternity leave requires a valid marriage for it to be availed of; and
The paternity benefit shall be availed of before, during or after delivery, provided that the total number of days does not exceed 7 working days. However, the benefit must be availed of not later than 60 days after the date of delivery. Unlike the maternity leave benefit, the paternity benefit of 7 days, is for the account of the employer.
The foregoing policy shall be administered by the Human Resource Officer in coordination with the Department/Unit Heads and Finance Officer.
